Our Mission:
The mission of Heart in Education Teacher Outreach is to provide professional development and material support to teachers in Honduras by partnering them with Indiana teachers and schools.
We accomplish this goal by the following:
1. Recruit and take Indiana teachers to Honduras for one week. During this one week each teacher teaches a model lesson for the Honduran teacher, we conduct professional development workshops where both sides share information, ideas and learn from each other, and we deliver much needed supplies and resources for the students and the teachers.
2. Develop relationships between the Indiana teachers and the Honduran teachers. It is of the utmost importance that a true relationship that is mutually beneficial be established and maintained.
3. Partner the Indiana schools with the Honduran schools, so that ongoing support and aid can continue. This also helps to ensure that everyone in the Indiana school stays connected and is a part of the mission.

This is an amazing organization and a trip that will change any teacher that participates. My first trip was in the summer of 2008. It was such a great experience, I’m going back this February. I can’t wait to see the students in the schools, the wonderful Honduran friends I have made, and to develop amazing realationships with the fellow teachers I will be traveling with on this trip.
